Might well be her new nickname. When I adopted her, she had experienced enough trauma and recognized her name as Daisy. I didn't change it. Daisy Mae Clampett is what I call her when she is being adorable.
Loved learning about the lady slippers who knew they took 16 years to bloom that’s crazy. Looks like a lovely place for you to be working on your research.
Daisy is my constant companion and she enjoys me more when I am not behind the computer screen. Unplugging the past 10 days lets me pay attention to the here and now. And this is a beautiful place with beautiful people.
We lost our beloved Raisin recently. Glad you are enjoying all these moments with your older girl. She looks wonderful. And I haven’t seen a Lady Slipper in years. Loved learning more about them!
I'm still amazed how the timing of your visit made it possible to see your Aunt one last time--whether she knew you or not. You knew you were there. You're getting a taste of Lake of the Woods as it is today. Fascinating. When Daisy is here, she walks me, too.
I am glad to have been here now and thankful for the long conversations we had about our family history this past week. Daisy enjoys road trips to upstate NY and your land too. We hope to make a visit yet this summer.
What a treat to follow you and Daisy on your research trip! I'm glad you got to spend time in the landscapes you're writing about and in the archives of each town, and that Daisy was there to walk you out of your head and into the place. And how lovely to see the lady's slipper orchids! I haven't seen those in decades, and I'm glad they're still blooming, at least in a few places. Thanks!
The documents have my head spinning and I'm grateful to be grounded in the present. I might not otherwise have ever seen these rare beauties if Daisy hadn't been walking me.
“She walks me.” I love that line.
Thank you for the beautiful photos and Daisy is one gorgeous girl.
Daisy and I thank you.
What a lovely trip - and memorable times with Daisy that will always be precious.
Thanks. And memories of my Aunt who loved dogs and taught me to love them too.
Beautiful! (I also had a miniature dachshund when l was small!)
they made terriic pets!
They do! l adored my Schatzie.❤️
Did you ever consider naming Daisy "Lady Slippers"? Just asking for a friend.

I'm glad she found YOU
What an excellent travel companion!
Thanks, Rica.

You are right that this is a special place and it keeps revealing itself to me.
Beautiful dog and photos. Happy writing, Jill!

Daisy reminds you what any dog knows: this is where you are now, and life happens in each moment. And that's a lovely gift!
indeed!
I love seeing your travels with Daisy, and what a beautiful girl!
