I just discovered your work and want to thank you for your offerings. I'm trying to track down my father's lineage but he lived in West Texas and might have been from the Jumano Tribe, a mixture of several tribes who lived and hunted in the area. Unfortunately, there are very few records of this group of people, although I can feel their souls when I read about them. The work you are doing is inspiring me to look deeper into my own history!
Having read the most recent entry, with sharing from Grace Landin's research, I want to share that Grace was my 2nd grade teacher. Henry Boucha, of "The Electric Indian" PBS Movie, was also in our class as well as your cousin, Lynn Kleven. Small town growing up history.
Good to know you were lucky to have had Grace Landin for second grade! Her thesis impressed me enormously. I didn't realize you were in the same class with Henry and Lynn; I thought you were younger! Thanks for supporting my efforts to learn more about the history of Warroad.
Yes, but more paragraphs, please. Otherwise, the suspense is gonna kill me. You know I love your writing. I can't wait to read more! So glad you're moving forward with bringing this project to light.
Thank you Jill for your decades of interest and attention to learn and share his story. As a result, I am now privileged to recognize his eyes in his grandsons and grand daughters.
I'm glad you've been as captivated by their story as I have. Glad to see you here on Substack. Thanks for subscribing and sharing it with friends who might be interested too. Thank YOU.
I look forward to reading much more about how the heritage and stories are connected.
Thanks for reading! I greatly appreciate your interest in this complicated history.

Only one paragraph to start? How long do I have to wait for the next?
Once a week on Sunday afternoons. And I'll be sharing the backstory to my manuscript and what it's about.

music to my ears! this first one was certainly a teaser. Glad it worked!
Fascinating face. Looking forward to some of your stories Jill.
Thanks Jean. I remember the retreat on the north shore of Superior organized by Sara Biren when we first met and I was still doing a lot of research.
Is this the part of a book you are writing?
Kakaygeesick and this postcard are part of the story I have written in my manuscript, yes. More deets once a week!
Sounds good, can’t wait.
