You would have loved him, Sondra. Such a sense of humor. He could make me laugh and then later I’d think much more deeply about his jokes and stories and learned to laugh at myself.

Thank you for the write up. I grew up with John and his older brother Robert, who were neighbors across a street and an alley. I am sorry to hear of his passing. Robert was also an artist pf note.

You've had a doubly hard period of loss. I'm moved by John Kakaygeesick's beautiful paintings and telling of the legend, as well as his words: "I never ran away. I walked." It's hard to imagine the bravery of a boy that age leaving a foster family and walking all the way to Warroad. Thanks for sharing his creativity and his courage.
