I'm glad to hear this lands differently than the posts I've offered readers the past two and a half years here. Besides the length of the post, the style of writing is quite different. Here I started writing about all the research that went into the book but didn't make it into the manuscript and then have continued with new research. Here on Substack, I've gone deeper and deeper into the history, heritage, and unsung heroes of this place.
